POITIERS, FRANCE

Welcome to Poitiers! CREM is the Regional Committee of Medicine Students. We will be really pleased to present you this historic city. Built during the Antiquity, you will be amazed by the amont of historical monuments, mixed with very contemporary buildings, creating a unique place.

Its city center is picturesque and its streets include an important historical architecture, especially religious architecture and mostly from the Romanesque period. Two major military battles took place near the city: in 732, the Battle of Poitiers in which the Franks commanded by Charles Martel halted the expansion of the Umayyad Caliphate, and in 1356, the Battle of Poitiers, a key victory for the English forces during the Hundred Years’ War.

Culture

You will be able to discover a fantastic and diversified scene. Thanks to its multiple buildings, including the wonderful Théâtre Auditorium, the cultural expression in Poitiers is high level!

Fun & technology

Futuroscope is the second largest theme park in France, with more than 1,6 million visitors every year ! It is also a high-tech area, with engineers schools and famous french tech companies.

University of Poitiers
Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy

Created in 1432, the medical and pharmacy faculty of Poitiers is one of the oldest in the country. Close to the university hospital, it takes place in modern buildings with high quality classes and important research and studies.

Your arrival in Poitiers

Our city is 2h30 far from Paris, with a direct train between the international airport Roissy – Charles de Gaulle (CDG) and the city. You will be welcomed by local french medical students.

We cannot welcome you in november, december, april and may because these are the examination periods.

Boarding and lodging

Lunch at hospital and dinner at student’s place. Lodging at student’s flat.
